A warm red-orange reminiscent of kin-aka, set against a blue sky and deep green foothills. Its luminous slopes evoke the fleeting moments at dawn when sunlight bathes Mount Fuji in red. Brought into a modern interior, this bold color becomes a quiet focal point.

Red Fuji — Fine Wind, Clear Morning | Hokusai × Takamizawa

[A Lifetime Spent on a Single Mountain]

A mountain catches fire at first light — and for a moment, the room goes still.

This is Mount Fuji on a clear summer morning, when the rising sun briefly turns its slopes red. Hokusai painted it as part of his Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, a series made when he was already in his seventies. Fuji had long been sacred to the Japanese — a symbol of permanence in a world that was changing fast. Today, this image is recognized almost anywhere in the world, yet it still carries that original sense of quiet awe.

Hokusai is said to have called himself "an old man mad about painting." He spent decades studying Fuji from countless angles and seasons, refusing to settle on just one. This print is the result — a single mountain reduced to its most essential, powerful form.

A quiet but commanding presence — Fuji standing alone, unmoved.

[Uncompromising Craftsmanship Restoring the Very Soul of the Original]

Takamizawa Mokuhansha weaves magic that transcends time and space. Since its founding in 1911, what they have pursued is not mere "reproduction" of form. They perfectly resurrect the depth of pigment held by the washi, the microscopic tremors of the lines, and even the heart-pounding emotion of when the artwork was first revealed to the world. Through Takamizawa's works, which embody the essence of traditional crafts recognized by the Japanese government, you will feel an immersive sensation as if stepping directly into the dawn when Hokusai took up his brush, or into the twilight that Hiroshige gazed upon.
